We are excited to appoint to the Head of Speech & Language Therapy services across the Health Board with the opportunity to influence the delivery of our vision of being a high quality organisation.
The Head of Service will lead a large team of speech and language therapy staff and we need an experienced, confident, energetic and highly motivated individual with a proven track record of transforming service delivery. Supported by an experienced operational team, this is an exciting opportunity for a visible, engaging senior leader with significant experience of clinical leadership within the health and care system. This is a challenging and diverse role, providing leadership across primary care, community services and hospital sites within the Health Board and there is significant scope to drive innovative ways of working and new models of care to build on our existing success and to deliver best possible outcomes for our population.
Main duties of the job
This post requires a credible, compassionate and inspirational candidate to provide an expert level of strategic and operational leadership and, to lead a positive and inclusive culture ensuring continuous improvement and professional excellence whilst demonstrating alignment with the Health Board's values and behaviours.
Accountable to, and working with, the Clinical Director of Therapies and Audiology you will join a caring and compassionate collective of Heads of Therapy and Audiology Professions. In addition, you will work closely with colleagues within the Primary Care, Community Services and Therapy Service Group, with the other Service Groups across the Health Board, and with the Executive Director of Therapies and Health Sciences to deliver highly effective, quality services.
The successful candidate will also need to be able to foster positive relationships and communication with external stakeholders including Local Authorities, Voluntary organisations, Universities, Professional Body and the Health and Care Professions Council. The post holder will also work with colleagues regionally and nationally.

- Registration with the HCPC.
- Degree/ Postgraduate qualification or relevant Speech & Language Therapy qualification.
- Masters degree or equivalent portfolio of advanced postgraduate training/experience in clinical & management areas.
- Evidence of post registration qualifications.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Relevant management or leadership qualification/ significant management experience at a senior level.
