An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Rheumatology nursing team for a nurse with proven experience of caring for patients with Rheumatoid conditions wanting to develop their skills further in a specialist area as a Band 6 Rheumatology Nurse .

We are looking for an individual that is highly motivated, able to work effectively within in a large multidisciplinary team with the ability to use their own initiative within their scope of practice.

Training and supervision will be provided as required, with the successful candidate going on to have responsibility for the management of patients with complex conditions and promoting the service whilst delivering high quality care that is evidence based and reflects current best practice. They will work collaboratively within the Rheumatology team and be visible and accessible to patients, carers and staff.

Main duties of the job

For this role you must demonstrate that you are reliable and flexible, and willing to develop and enhance your clinical skills. We are a tertiary center and care for a group of patients with complex, multi-system health needs. We support patients from diagnosis and enable them to self-manage their long term conditions. We provide assessment and treatment, health education and support to patients to manage their conditions in clinic, via a telephone advice line and virtually using tele-medicine.

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will need demonstrate empathetic interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with patients with rheumatic diseases and their carers. The applicant will need to also demonstrate practice in holistic assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of rheumatology nursing care. there will be a requirement to assisting the Senior Nursing team with the development of policies, protocols and clinical guidelines, necessary to support the developing specialist nursing service

Experience

Essential

  • Able to demonstrate commitment to high quality patient care
  • Experience as a band 5 nurse
  • Proven experience of caring for patients with Rheumatoid conditions/ conditions relevant to the speciality


Desirable

  • Experience of audit and Research initiatives.
  • Able to undertake nurse-led clinics


Qualifications

Essential

  • RN (Adult)
  • Current NMC registration
  • Health assessment qualification or willing to work towards within 12 months of appointment


Desirable

  • Willing to undertake specialised rheumatology nursing course
  • willing to undertake the Non Medical Prescribing course. Willing to undertake a
  • Teaching and Assessing course
  • Phlebotomy and cannulation skills
  • Willing to undertake intermediate life support training
