Respiratory Physiology at ULHT is looking for a flexible and motivated Respiratory Physiologist to provide Bank hours to meet the needs of the service.

The post holder will be required to support the day to day running of the respiratory physiology service, perform reports and supervise complex specialised investigative procedures to ensure an efficient service.

Main duties of the job

To provide a specialist clinical technical service through the resource management, quality control of equipment, education of the health care profession whilst contributing to the development of procedures and services.

Involvement in all aspects of physiological measurement that are carried out in the Respiratory Physiology department. This will include using a variety of equipment and techniques to measure and monitor respiratory function for both inpatients and outpatients, assess lung disease, long term oxygen therapy assessment in an outpatient setting.

Sleep assessment and management of CPAP and review and develop exercise testing.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc (with hons) in Respiratory Physiology or equivalent
  • ARTP 1 & 2 Training/Assessment qualifications
  • State Voluntary registration RCCP


Previous Experience

Essential

  • In depth experience and Specialist knowledge across a range of procedures within specialist area of respiratory physiology.
  • Evidence of Professional development
  • Experience of working within an NHS department


Skills and knowledge

Essential

  • In depth knowledge of Respiratory Physiology procedures
  • Good knowledge of national and local guidelines.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 package
  • Skills in maintaining record keeping systems and procedures.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgements.
  • Ability to develop, plan and implement short and long range goals/developments.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to manage own workload
  • Responsive and flexible attitude and approach. Self-motivating.
