Are you passionate about working with children, young people and their families?

Looking to pursue a career in Child and Adolescent Mental Health?

Southampton CAMHS have an exciting opportunity opening for the role of a qualified CBT therapist to work specifically within the eating disorders service.

In CAMHS, there is often a high level of complexity in the children and young people we see. The role will involve offering assessments and specialist, evidence-based interventions to children, young people and their families within the eating disorders service.

The successful applicant will be working within an established eating disorder team alongside the lead Consultant Psychiatrist, Senior Clinical Psychologist, Mental health nurses, therapists, support workers and Assistant Psychologist to deliver bespoke care packages according to need. This will include a combination of clinic work and home visiting as well and building strong relationships with local tier 4 providers to ensure consistency of care for those young people requiring periods of hospital admission.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for providing a highly skilled and specialist CBT intervention on both an individual and group basis as appropriate using techniques and knowledge gained through experience, self-development, and evidence-based practice.

The team are committed to support the successful candidate in developing their skills, knowledge and experience so that over time the post-holder will be confident in providing specialist treatment and assessment within the sphere of expertise in eating disorders. This support will be provided in the format of in-house and external training opportunities, shadowing, a buddy/mentor as well as self-guided learning.

Over time the post holder will work autonomously in carrying out therapeutic work based on clear theoretical concepts and the application of related techniques and will be responsible for providing assessment, case management and CBT intervention to children, young people and their families / carers.

Alongside delivery of their specialism the post holder may be required to contribute to the delivery of the core roles of the Specialist CAMHS team such as the delivery of initial assessments, assessments as part of the self-harm rota, duty and risk management.

The post holder will participate in the review of clinical policies and guidelines relevant to the area and support and implement changes to practice.
