Mental health, CBT therapist
Band 7
Contract Type
Full Time
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a cognitive behavioural therapist in Southampton's Early Intervention in Psychosis team. The EIP team provides timely support to people experiencing first episode psychosis in line with national and local guidelines. We are looking for a motivated and skilled individual who is committed to working with a diverse, multi-cultural community. You will offer direct therapy to service users as well as providing supervision, consultation, and training to team staff. You will be BABCP accredited and experienced in CBT for psychosis. However, we will also consider applicants who have completed training in CBT but are not yet BABCP accredited -- in this case you would begin in a Band 6 post with a development plan to work towards accreditation.

Main duties of the job

You will be managed by a Senior Clinical Psychologist and receive supervision in line with BABCP guidelines. You will have the opportunity to supervise trainees on the University of Southampton's Diploma in Cognitive Therapy for Severe Mental Health Problems. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in a research clinic and to receive specialist supervision linked to this. You will also have the opportunity to train in Family Intervention for Psychosis and receive supervision in this approach.

You will work closely with colleagues in local services and across the Trust. You will also be part of Southampton Psychological Services (SPS), a large well-established psychological therapies team. We are a friendly and supportive team with a wealth of expertise including CBT, family interventions, DBT, CAT, ACT, EMDR and psychodynamic approaches. We have good supervision structures, an excellent track record of CPD, and strong academic links.

About us

Southern Health is one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK, specialising in mental health and learning disabilities, as well as offering physical health community-based services.

As a Trust, our footprint spans more than 200 sites across Hampshire, wholeheartedly committed to providing the best possible healthcare, reaching a range of diverse communities.

- We function as a unified team, placing patients and staff at the forefront of all our endeavours.

- Our 7,000+ workforce is skilled and diverse, with a deep commitment to ongoing staff development. We offer customised training, leadership pathways, and a plethora of career opportunities.

Building on all this, we are currently working closely with other local NHS Trusts to integrate all our collective community, mental health, and learning disability services across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Our new organisation is set to launch in April 2024 and will incorporate Southern Health, Solent, Isle of Wight and Sussex Partnership Trusts.

While the new Trust will be substantially bigger, it will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, streamlining services and making healthcare across the county more accessible.

Join us as we embark on this exciting journey to shape the future of healthcare in Hampshire.
