We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Digital Midwifery Lead at Barnsley Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring clinical practice, supported by digital technologies meets professional standards. This will be done through the provision of clinical expertise, professional direction and effective, credible leadership.

The post holder will be responsible for monitoring the quality of data within the maternity electronic records and will be responsible for identifying areas for improvement and leading on the implementation of improvement plans.

The post holder will play a key role in ensuring the principles of clinical governance and risk management are implemented within the Unit. They will be responsible for the collection of data, production and presentation of formal reports and contribute to data collection both local and system wide.

The postholder will possess excellent communication skills and be confident in the collection of audit data, leading on quality improvement and service development. The postholder will be responsible for the presentation of data locally and nationally as required.

The post holder will have direct access to the Deputy Associate Director of Midwifery for advice and support and they will play an active part in the professional networks within the organisation, LMNS and region.

Main duties of the job

In partnership with the senior midwifery leadership team, ensure the maternity IT system functionality adheres to / supports practitioners professional standards e.g. the NMC Code.Support the senior midwifery leadership team in planning the strategy for the maternity service to develop its digital maturity.Using data populated / collected by the maternity IT system reporting functionality, contribute towards the monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) using the local maternity dashboardContribute towards the MSDS data submission for the serviceFacilitate local and national reporting and monitoring and provide assurance data collected is of a high qualityParticipate in clinical audit and produce FOI data as required.Present project updates at key meetings, not exclusive to departmental meetings.Write reports as required and act upon and monitor any actionsUsing the reporting process, provide regular updates on development, utilisation and risks to update the Trust Board maternity representative via the Associate Director of Midwifery.For further information please contact Rebecca Bustani, Deputy Associate Director of Midwifery on 07821637730r.bustani@nhs.net

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive post registration midwifery experience at Band 6 level
  • Experience of working with healthcare administration IT systems
  • Service development experience, delivering clinical quality improvements and successful service change


Desirable

  • Experience of working in all care settings (acute and primary care)
  • Multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of working with healthcare clinical IT systems
  • Teaching and training
  • Proven experience of working in an environment with a range of IT infrastructures and Microsoft technologies
  • Good understanding of digital systems and advances to develop and manage electronic patient records


Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Midwife
  • First level degree (or working toward) in related healthcare discipline or substantial experiential equivalence
  • RGN / RM / AHP / Healthcare registration / qualification
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Teaching qualification and / or recent teaching experience


Desirable

  • Evidence of learning beyond registration
  • Undertaken basic qualifications in the use of computer packages such as the European Computer Driving License (ECDL) or Word, PowerPoint and excel software
  • Post-graduate management qualification and / or equivalent level of knowledge gained through extensive experience
  • Project management qualification or relevant experience

  • In-depth understanding of the national digital agenda and including the National Maternity review and Safer Maternity Care agenda
  • Up to date and evidence based knowledge of current clinical and professional issues


Desirable

  • In-depth understanding of the relevance of high quality data
  • In-depth understanding of the Maternity Services Data Set (MSDS) and ability to apply the findings to improve service delivery
