The Education Department at University Hospitals Dorset is looking to recruit an experienced educator into a job share post as Band 2-4 and Career Development Educator. This is a full time vacancy, working across both Poole and Bournemouth sites. The key purpose of the role is to deliver and facilitate career progression opportunities for the clinical and non-clinical band 2-4 workforce across the organisation.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable background in education/training and will be able to think creatively to engage the under represented groups across the organisation.You will therefore have strong communication and planning skills, have excellent attention to detail and be able to meet various deadlines, project requirements and national frameworks.
A background in clinical healthcare is particularly desirable, and candidates who have completed the Care Certificate Assessor course are particularly welcome. There will be also be requirement to become a Moving and Handling Champion so that you are able to support the delivery of this training to new recruits.
An understanding of national apprenticeships and careers in healthcare is important as there is a need to move this agenda forwards across the Trust

This role is embedded in the Band 2-4 and Apprenticeship Team, which sits within the wider Blended Education and Training (BEAT) Team.
The BEAT Team is based across Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals and provides education and training to the whole workforce across University Hospitals Dorset.
The successful candidate will be expected to support the team on both Poole and Bournemouth sites where cover is required.
There would also be occasional requirements to visit the satellite sites at Yeomans Way and Christchurch Hospitals in order to be accessible and visible for the whole Band 2-4 workforce. Therefore, access to a vehicle would be desirable and a cross-site parking permit would be recommended.

Main duties of the job
This role will comprise of four key workstreams:
- The shared delivery of the Healthcare Support Worker Induction programme. This is a 2 week long Care Certificate training programme where you will be required to both deliver clinical and non-clinical classroom teaching, manage specialist speakers and administrative tasks associated with each group of new starters. This will also include the delivery of Moving and Handling training.
- The monitoring and delivery of monthly content for the Trust Development Community.
- Design and deliver creative initiatives to provide diverse career development opportunities to the clinical and non-clinical workforce across the Trust. You will become a subject matter expert in career advice and be confident in promoting apprenticeship pathways.
- Support the wider team in enabling career progression through widening participation initiatives, functional skills, and other initiatives such as T-Levels and the Higher Development Award
