We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who works well under pressure to join our team of clinical perfusionists. The department currently undertakes 2000 Cardiac cases per year through six operating theatres. A dedicated Aortic Surgical Suite provides state of the art facilities for Complex Aortic Surgery.

Main duties of the job

You will work towards registration with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain & Ireland and achieve accreditation from the Society Of Perfusionists of Great Britain and Ireland. Participation in the department's on-call rota is essential.The department offers a 37.5 hour working week and encourages personal development and research.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The principal role is to undertake the duties of a Trainee Clinical Perfusionist, training to become a qualified practitioner able to deliver professional clinical perfusion services to patients and the multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will form part of the perfusion department enablingit to meet its professional and contractual obligations.

Person Specification



  • Honours degree in science/medical based subject


  • Upper second class degree may be required to access MSc. Perfusion Science

Knowledge and Experience


  • Demonstrate relevant experience and commitment to personal goals


  • Evidence of manual dexterity and spatial awareness
  • Previous clinical/general work experience

  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Assertive team player
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Highly motivated and able to use own initiative


  • Computer literate
