An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Deputy Ward Manager within Ty Llidiard, Inpatient CAMHS unit.

The successful candidate will work as part of a large Multi-Disciplinary-team in the delivery of care and treatment for young people aged 12-18 with serious mental illness.

The successful applicant will support the ward manager in the operational management of safe and effective care delivery. This will be promoted through visible leadership and a focus on continuing quality improvement.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist the ward manager in providing day to day management and supervision of a team of registered and unregistered staff for the ward.

To contribute to the provision of health care to the people of Cwm Taf with continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs and the delivery and evaluation of skilled professional nursing care.

Actively promote the development of evidence based practice

Lead on the management of complex cases and supporting staff in the management of such cases.

To respond in the absence of the ward manager to serious untoward incidents, complaints and communications regarding team issues providing feedback to the team to ensure lessons learned are shared and inform practice development

Deputises for Ward Manager as and when required.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Registered Nurse - Mental Health
  • Ability to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and awareness of current evidence base relevant to the area of practice



  • Experience of managing people and ability to lead a team of staff
  • Evidence of achievement in clinical practice within the area of speciality e.g. CAMHS, adult mental health
