The position holder will support the non-clinical operational running of all aspects of North Midlands Breast Screening and symptomatic breast service. They will work closely with the Director of breast screening and Superintendent Radiographer/ Programme Manager. They may be the first point of contact for PHE (programme and SQAS teams) and local commissioning teams.

Main duties of the job

The position holder will:

o have responsibility for the leadership, management and performance of the breast administration and clerical and Health Promotion team.

o Responsibility for the creation and maintenance of the three year Breast Screening programme and to provide key performance indicators.

o Responsibility for the organisation and key performance indicators for moderate risk breast screening

o support the Director of Breast Screening and the Superintendent Radiographer/Programme Manager Radiographer in the quality, governance and coordination of the service

o provide leadership and a behavioural role model for the provision of compassionate care within the breast imaging service.

o work with other Directorates/Divisions to ensure the achievement of the Trust's and Divisional corporate objectives.

Assist the Directorate Management Senior Team, as directed by the Clinical Director, Directorate Manager and Superintendent Radiographer/Programme Manager, in the efficient and effective operational management of resources within the Directorate/ Service Line in order to deliver continually improving high quality patient.

Person Specification



  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.


  • Working to post graduate diploma level
  • Diploma/Degree in Management or health related subject

Knowledge skills and experience


  • Operational management skills Diplomacy and ability to deal with difficult situations
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.


  • Knowledge of the business planning process
  • Knowledge of workforce planning
  • Knowledge of National Breast screening and NHS cancer targets.
  • An understanding of Breast Imaging and complex patient pathways
  • Specialist understanding of medical terminology
