This is an exciting opportunity to join the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trusts Elective Orthopaedic service as Band 6 Team Lead Physiotherapist. Whilst part of the Royal Devons (Eastern) Physiotherapy service, the position is based at the South-West Ambulatory Orthopaedic Centre (SWAOC), Nightingale Hospital.

This position will carry a clinical caseload of complex patients across the Orthopaedic unit ensuring assessment and treatment of all patients from pre-assessment and prehab through to post-operative assessment and rehabilitation to deliver a rapid flow of patients through the service and timely follow-up.

The post-holder will provide management and supervision of the Physiotherapy team and the communication of the rehabilitation process and related information to patients and relatives. They will be responsible for monitoring therapy performance and outcomes across the unit.

The post holder will assist with the training and development of less experienced staff, undergraduates and other professionals as required and contribute to the development and delivery of a safe and effective, evidenced based service.

  • The post-holder will be responsible for teaching and leadership within this team working alongside the therapy team and other staff at SWAOC to deliver an efficient and high standard service to elective orthopaedic patients.
  • Support and deputise in absence of Clinical Lead.
  • They will be flexible to support their occupational therapy and physiotherapy colleagues in ensuring safe and timely discharge.
  • To actively assist in the smooth running of the service across the SWAOC template
  • The post-holder is responsible for their own caseload for the assessment and treatment of patients on a day-to-day basismanagement and supervision of the physiotherapy team and assistance with compilation of rotas.
  • Show understanding of Governance and risk assessments

Working Pattern: 30 hours per week, between the hours of 08:00 - 20:00 across 7 days including weekends and bank holidays.
