The Addictions In-Patient Services is looking for Deputy Ward Manager to work on the Chapman Barker Unit.

The post holder will be required to work a shift pattern, including nights and weekend work and be part of the rota for the top site duty manager role.

The Chapman Barker Unit (CBU) is a 36 bedded unit providing alcohol and substance misuse detox to adults (18 years plus). We offer planned detox to patients with complex physical, mental and social needs and work with Acute Hospital Services across Greater Manchester offering rapid access to alcohol detox (RADAR).

We require a dynamic individual who has an interest and positive attitude to working within substance misuse services in an in patients setting. The post holder should be prepared to pro-actively contribute to a ward environment, as part of a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is designated to take charge of the ward and effectively co-ordinate the running of the clinical area, supporting nursing staff and multi-disciplinary team members to provide a quality service.

The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs, development, implementation and evaluation of recovery based treatment plans.

The post holder is to be a role model, promote good nursing practice, providing supervision, support, direction and leadership on a shift-to-shift basis to junior colleagues.

To supervise the junior staff and assist in meeting the training and development needs of the ward / department.
