Are you ready to be part of an exciting and innovative opportunity in healthcare? Harrogate NHS Foundation Trust is on a mission to celebrate the achievements so far and shape the future of healthcare. We're looking for a passionate occupational therapist to join us on this incredible journey.

About Us: At Harrogate NHS Foundation Trust we are proud to be at the heart of a unique partnership with five other forward-thinking organizations. This partnership extends to the North Yorkshire Council (NYC) and our community hub, creating a vibrant and collaborative ecosystem. We sit within HARA which offers significant benefits and opportunities for our staff and the patients we serve.

Our Purpose: Our services play a vital role in delivering the trusts clinical services strategy. We're dedicated to providing the best quality and safest care, with a specific focus on frailty. Our approach is all about integrated care delivered as close to home as possible, ensuring that our patients receive the care they need when and where it matters most.

Endless Opportunities: We offer a wide range of opportunities, including rotations across adult community services and the acute trust. We support trust rotations for Band 5 occupational therapists and physiotherapists and play a key role in developing unregistered staff to their fullest potential.

Main duties of the job

  • To carry a variable clinical caseload of patients within the Acute Response and Rehabilitation in the Community and Hospital Service (ARCH) providing occupational therapy assessments addressing occupational therapy performance, skills deficits, self-maintenance and cognitive function.
  • To provide assessments and interventions which support an 'admission avoidance' or 'home first' approach enabling patients to receive care in their usual place of residence wherever possible
  • To provide rehabilitation and advice to patients either at home or in hospital/rehabilitation bed to enable them to achieve their optimum level of independence and quality of life
  • To work with clients, carers, relatives and colleagues to identify, plan, develop and implement OT patient goals as part of an overall care plan.
  • To plan and implement individual interventions, in collaboration with the client, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
  • To work independently under the guidance of the senior staff within the team and actively participate in the professional development of self and others.
  • To seek and get support from the Occupational Therapy Professional Lead
  • To advise on, and prescribe, specialist, assistive equipment and adaptations for the home.
  • To take a responsible place in the multi-disciplinary team promoting the role of Occupational Therapy and taking an active part in team projects.
