An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Band 7 Ward Manager within Ward 14, Elective Orthopaedic at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to ensuring that patients are at the centre of all we undertake, delivering safe healthcare, of the highest quality, always. To continue providing care at this level, we are looking to recruit the right people, who can play their part in meeting these demanding targets.
We are a busy department offering care to patients undergoing elective orthopaedic surgery. This requires our staff to have excellent assessment skills, the ability to prioritise a busy workload and to work alongside our multi-disciplinary teams. The ultra-green elective orthopaedic ward offers major elective surgery and an opportunity to support pre-assessment in our ultra-green pathways. The ward offers a pro-active environment for staff to practice and develop their skills, to further benefit our patients.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, self-motivated, and experienced Nurse to work as part of the Trauma / Orthopaedic Unit. The post will support the CSU management team in the management of the Orthopaedic Unit and will provide management and leadership to the teams.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will require a minimum 3 years post registration experience and recent experience at band 6 or above is required. Good leadership and communication skills are essential. Individuals should be flexible and be able to demonstrate they are an excellent role model with the ability to develop excellent interpersonal relationships. They should have a keen interest working in elective orthopaedic surgery.
The post holder is responsible for the teaching, mentoring and assessment of students, trainees and professional staff, promoting a learning culture.
You must be enthusiastic and passionate about delivering high standards of patient centred care ensuring patients receive seamless care in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team both across organisational and professional boundaries.
You will be expected to assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care and work within national policy frameworks and guidelines, which are relevant to the patient group and specialty area.
It is essential that you have a good understanding of the challenges in relation to elective orthopaedic / acute trauma and plastic surgery services and the skills required to support patients, families and carers following an emergency or elective procedure. You must also demonstrate excellent clinical skills, a strong team management approach and be open to developing and progressing new ideas and innovative ways of working.
