We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Clinical Psychologist to work within our Neuropsychology department. You will be joining our established Neuropsychology Service, supporting acute Neurology and Neurosurgery services within the Neurology Care Group at Derriford Hospital. The post holder will be supporting general Neuropsychology work.
The Neuropsychology Unit is closely integrated with the University of Plymouth Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and Peninsula Medical school. There are opportunities for the post holder to develop their research interests and appropriately qualified candidates may be offered an honorary University position. This is an exciting and opportunity for a dynamic individual with developing expertise in Neuropsychology looking to develop their career in clinical neuropsychology.

- To provide a specialised clinical neuropsychology service to adult patients with neurological, neurosurgical, or related psychological conditions, their families and carers where appropriate within University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.
- This includes providing highly specialist neuropsychological assessment and treatment of own specialist caseload of patients, at the same time as offering advice and consultation on patients' neuropsychological and psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other non-professional carers.
- To work autonomously as an independent practitioner within defined aims and professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
- Responsible for providing and developing highly specialist psychological interventions to patients and for communicating psychological formulations and treatment plans to patients, families and relevant professional colleagues.

Knowledge and experience
Essential
- oAt least 4 years post qualification experience of working in an acute clinical neuropsychology service.
- oAt least 4 years experience of working at Clinical Specialist level in the assessment and treatment of people with complex neurological conditions.
- oAt least 4 years experience of administering specialist neuropsychological and psychometric assessments until fully competent.
- oAt least 4 years experience of interpreting both verbally and in written form complex neuropsychological and psychometric assessments and presenting this information to patients and professionals.
- oExperience of providing assessment and intervention to patients with a wide range of different neurological and psychological disorders, and drawing on several theoretical and therapeutic models to do this.
Desirable
- oExperience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts. oExperience of supervision of other clinical psychologists
Qualifications
Essential
- oAccredited postgraduate Doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy). oRegistered as a Clinical Psychologist with the HCPC. oHaving been in receipt of 4 years specialist clinical supervision in neuropsychology
Desirable
- oPost-doctoral training/ recorded CPD events in adult neuropsychology oRecord of having published in peer reviewed or academic or professional oAdvanced keyboard and IT skills oFull practitioner member of BPS Division of Neuropsychology (or working towards it)
Aptitude and abilities
Essential
- oDoctoral level knowledge of Clinical Psychology, and corresponding high level of skills in assessment and treatment. oFurther specialist training in clinical neuropsychology to a level to be able to competently assess and treat patients with complex neurological presentations. oAble to supervise other qualified clinical psychologists, trainee clinical psychologists, assistant psychologists and undergraduate placement students. oAble to undertake teaching and training of trainee clinical psychologists, clinical psychologists and other professionals.
