If so, why not join us to be part of the transformation of community mental health services for Primary Care Networks for people with emotional regulation difficulties, working closely alongside other advanced mental health practitioners, Psychological Therapists and in close partnership with the Voluntary Sector.

You will lead on the facilitation and delivery of a psychoeducational Managing Emotions Group programme alongside a Voluntary Sector partner and will also have the opportunity to contribute to the wider psychological therapies provision, especially within the

Personality Disorder pathway, depending on your interests. Your base for this role can be in Reading or Wokingham, although there will be opportunities for some of the service delivery to be online.

You will be well supported and supervised by a Psychologist, and will work within a dynamic, people-centred environment, where you will be able to shape and improve provision for patients with complex conditions. You will primarily be responsible for delivering online and in-person groups to patients with significant mental health issues, as well as providing some supervisory input to junior psychological staff.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as part of a team to support and enhance the psychological care of adults with significant mental health issues in primary care.
  • To support the roll out and lead on the delivery of a group Managing Emotions Programme for people with emotional regulation difficulties across Berkshire West.
  • To liaise and work closely in partnership with a Voluntary sector provider in jointly delivering and facilitating the group programme
  • To participate in the implementation and development of system-wide mental health services that will contribute to improved experience for people with serious mental health problems in primary care.
  • To provide, supervise and support specialist psychological assessment and treatment, formulation and consultation to clients and staff within the clinical team and system to which the post-holder is attached, across all sectors of care.

Job responsibilities

The 4 must haves for you to be considered for this role:
  • Post graduate qualification in CBT or doctoral qualification in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or equivalent) or Advanced Mental Health Practitioner with significant experience in psychoeducational CBT-based interventions
  • Accreditation with BABCP or Registered with Health Care & Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Experience and interest of working in mental health multidisciplinary teams / multiagency environment as well as experience of teaching / training of health care professionals
  • Evidence of specific psychological training in working with clients with significant mental health difficulties.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Post graduate doctoral qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology
  • AND Registered with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • AND Eligible for graduate membership of and Chartered status with British Psychology Society (BPS) and for membership of the Division of Clinical or Counselling Psychology
  • OR Qualification in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to post graduate diploma level
  • AND Professional qualification in health or social care e.g. RMN, Social Worker or equivalent
  • AND Practitioner accreditation with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)


Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of working in mental health services, including delivering both individual and group interventions
  • Experiencing of managing highly complex situations concerning safeguarding and risk management
  • Experience of using evidence-based approaches, including CBT and 'third wave' interventions
  • Experience of using evidence-based approaches to support people with emotional regulation difficulties
  • Experience of delivering agreed/specified service targets and effective time management in a busy and demanding environment


Desirable

  • Demonstrable experience and interest of working in multidisciplinary teams / multi-agency environment as well as experience of teaching / training of health care professionals
  • Experience of working with significant mental health needs
  • Experience with routine outcome monitoring, audit and clinically related research.
  • Experience of teaching and liaising with other professional groups


Skills & Competencies

Essential

  • Computer literate
  • Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
  • Demonstrating high standards in written communication, with an ability to write clear reports and letters to referrers.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of mental health issues and presentations and knowledge of child protection/safeguarding issues and other relevant legislation
  • Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets
  • Ability to manage own caseload and time and to work flexibly across teams and sites in response to service demands.
  • Experience of working effectively with a wide variety of patient groups, across the whole life course and with service users with cases of a high degree of complexity
