Due to an early retirement within our Eating and Drinking / Complex Special Needs team we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Highly Specialist SLT to join our friendly and supportive team.

Main duties of the job

At a highly specialist level, to assess, diagnose, treat and discharge children/young people referred with speech, language, communication and eating & drinking problems

To work as a member of the Early Years, Primary and Secondary Teams to provide an efficient, effective and co-ordinated Speech and Language Therapy Service

To take a lead role for the EDD/CSN team, overseeing the caseload and providing clinical support for team members.

To provide highly specialist assessment, clinical diagnosis, treatment and management of dysphagia, eating and drinking, and complex communication needs in children.

To develop and implement highly specialist speech and language therapy treatment to children with eating and drinking difficulties and complex special needs

To take the delegated lead on the development of team objectives or projects, in liaison with peers

To participate in the development, maintenance and review of standards for the speech and language therapy treatment of children with EDD/CSN

To manage a large and complex caseload independently across a number of locations

To assist in the leadership of appropriate specialist area children with EDD/CSN

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • At least 3 years of leadership experience
  • HCPC registered
  • RCSLT
  • Post qualification EDD experience of at least 5 years


Desirable

  • Masters in Speech and Language Therapy or evidence of additional CPD


Skills

Essential

  • Experience of line management of junior staff and conducting appraisals
  • Experience of working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues
  • Experience of providing support to experienced colleagues within the field


Desirable

  • Experience of implementing service development initiatives
