University Hospital Bristol and Weston provides a wide range of teaching and learning programmes across the organisation including, International recruitment, the Healthcare Support worker programme, Preceptorship programme and the Clinical Skills curriculum and the Practice Development practice Educators will be involved in the delivery of all practice development programmes. The practice development practice educator will be a key role within the practice development team and the role will cover five main areas of work detailed below.

Main duties of the job

1. Leading the planning, preparation and evaluation of the clinical skills programme.

2. Delivery of teaching across all practice development programmes.

3. Act as the clinical learning and development link to relevant clinical forums within UHBW.

4. Responsible for relevant deliverables within the education strategy objectives, milestones linked to the clinical skills provision.

5. Monitor and track trust compliance and competency status using the trust Learner Management System

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training


  • Registered Health Professional i.e. NMC or HCPC
  • Educated to a degree level
  • Post Graduate teaching qualification or willingness to work towards


  • Coaching qualification
  • Leadership and management qualification

Knowledge and Experience


  • Evidence of leading an education programme/s
  • Ability to teach relevant clinical skills within scope of practice
  • Experience of leading an outreach programme that includes pastoral support to learners in practice
  • Knowledge of workforce and compliance reporting requirements
  • Recent experience of planning, delivering and evaluating teaching delivery
  • Recent relevant clinical experience
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering the Care Certificate Programme
  • Recent evidence of leading Trust wide projects/initiatives
  • Good working knowledge of education as part of a complex health care organisation
  • Knowledge of effectively engaging diverse groups of learners
  • Evidence of recent professional development and its application in the clinical workplace


  • Recent experience of service development and leading change
  • Experience of teaching in an Higher Education Institute
