We are looking for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to help plan and co-ordinate a busy dispensary whilst ensuring accuracy and meeting dispensing targets. You will have a vision to embed the trust values in your work and will lead by example to ensure the team perform to the highest standards. You will motivate and engage the team and must have a passion for improving patient experience. You should be able to demonstrate excellent time management, prioritisation skills and show commitment.

When not co-ordinating in the dispensary you will participate in routine pharmacy technician duties, including dispensing and accuracy checking.

We are committed to supporting you with relevant training and development so if you are not trained in accuracy checking then you will be required to commence training with us within 3 months.

Main duties of the job

Posts are 37:30 hours per week worked between 9am and 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5pm Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays 1-2 per year.

Person Specification

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training


  • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services/BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain
  • Accredited to accuracy check or be prepared to undertake the training on commencement of post
  • Expertise as a qualified Pharmacy Technician
  • Experience of pharmacy labelling and stock control systems


  • Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy
  • Experience of supervising staff

Knowledge and Skills


  • Excellent written communication skills

Personal Attributes


  • Enthusiasm for the position
  • Accurate and methodical with good attention to detail

Other Requirements


  • Ability to carry out moderate to intensive physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities including climbing ladders, stretching, bending and standing for long periods of time
