We are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed individual to lead the Dietetics Community Team in Ipswich and East Suffolk.

Working as part of the Integrated Pathways Division alongside our therapy and speech and language colleagues the successful candidate will be passionate about providing care closer to people's homes and confident in motivating the team to deliver seamless service to older people and vulnerable adults in a variety of care settings.

You will have responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of the community team and requires a range of skills and experience including the ability to communicate effectively lead and support staff and manage a defined caseload of complex patients including home enteral tube feed patients.

The Dietetic Team consists of 26 staff including Dietitians and Dietetic Support Staff providing a service an integrated both adult and paediatric service to acute and community settings. You will have access to clinical supervision and have opportunities to undertake continuing professional development as identified by your training needs and objectives.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the leadership team in the Nutrition and Dietetic Service with specific responsibility for the operational management and delivery of the dietetic community services across a variety of settings.

To contribute to the strategic direction and service development of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service under the leadership of the Professional Lead for Dietetics in support of patient pathway redesign/integration and digitally enabled care.

To be lead clinical dietitian for community services, including promoting high quality care to older people and vulnerable adults together with the delivery of the home enteral tube feeding service.

To provide a source of expertise to patients, carers, medical practitioners, AHPs and social care within the hospital, patients' own homes, small hospitals and care homes.

To manage a defined complex clinical caseload.

To lead the planning, development and evaluation of defined service improvement and transformation projects within Nutrition and Dietetics.

To lead the development and implementation of the programme of work regarding raising awareness of malnutrition and appropriate prescribing across East Suffolk Care Homes, Community Hospitals and Health Professionals mentoring the Prescribing Dietitian and liaising with Medicines Management at the CCG.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oBSc Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
  • oCurrent HPC registration in Dietetics
  • oMember of British Dietetic Association
  • oClinical Supervisory Skills Course/ Student training courses
  • oAbility to travel between locations


Desirable

  • oLeadership qualifications, management training
  • oPost registration training/ highly specialised courses, working towards masters level in area of interest


Experience

Essential

  • oExtensive experience post qualification with experience at a senior level
  • oExperience of service development/ innovation
  • oProven line management/recruitment responsibility for junior staff
  • oProject management
  • oExperience of providing services to:- older people those with complex needs - dementia, learning disabilities and neurological conditions enteral tube feeding
  • oCompleted audit or research projects and evidence of application to practice
  • oPortfolio of evidence of CPD

  • oMembership of relevant specialist interest groups
