Main duties of the job

An exciting 18-month nurse professional leadership internship has been developed for mental health and learning disability nursing across Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. You will work with the Director and Associate Director of Nursing and Therapies Mental Health and Learning Disabilities to provide a professional voice for nursing across the Trust and establish a clear vision for the workforce development contribution to the overarching Trust Strategy. You will already be working competently and confidently to the four key pillars of practice, incorporating, education, research, and leadership in your current role. In this new role you will be able to work a day a week in advanced specialist nursing practice, whilst also leading several defined nursing objectives aligned to clinical practice and standards. This internship is intended to invest in the development of mental health and learning disability nurse leaders, and you will be fully supported to develop your own professional leadership development plan for this role and beyond, with the Associate Director of Nursing and Therapies Mental Health and Learning Disabilities.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • A professional qualification in nursing (mental health or learning disability)
  • Current registration with the with the nursing & midwifery council (NMC)
  • Demonstrable evidence of robust and extended continuous professional development
  • Post graduate qualification at master's level or equivalent experience
  • Leadership qualification or equivalent experience
  • Qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience in Quality Improvement methodologies (QI)


Desirable

  • Project or Programme management qualification
  • Doctorate level study
  • Applied clinical research qualification
  • Specialist professional training


Knowledge & Expertise

Essential

  • Highly developed expert nursing clinical skills in relevant clinical area
  • Very highly developed knowledge of mental health and learning disability nurses and national drivers supporting nursing services
  • Extensive knowledge of the healthcare system, including national, regional, and local policy drivers for mental health and learning disability nursing services
  • Expertise of service and business planning
  • Highly developed expertise of leading successful organisational change and development
  • Highly developed understanding of place-based care and population health principles
  • Demonstrable expertise of leading complex clinical improvement activities
  • Exceptional verbal and written skills.
