The postholder will:

Support the Electrical Supervisor in the safe operation and maintenance of all plant, equipment and installations within the Trust estate,

Establishing efficient and effective teams with high performance standards

The role is a combination of management of maintenance and hands on maintenance.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will
  • To supervise Technicians, Craftsmen and Maintenance Support Staff, to ensure an effective and efficient workforce is provided delivering maintenance activities, this will be achieved via the trusts CAFM system (MICAD)
  • To assist and support the Electrical Manager in ensuring the Property Maintenance Department operates within all Health and Safety guidelines, and that all Statutory and Mandatory obligations for the Trust are met i.e. BS7671
  • To undertake the duties of Competent Persons or Approved/Responsible person in either LV/HV or both.
  • To act up as Electrical Manager when required.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BS7671 17th or 18th edition


Desirable

  • oCPD in line management oHNC/HND in an engineering discipline oCompetent or Authorised/Responsible Person in a specialist discipline oC& G 2391 Testing and inspecting oApprenticeship or qualification in electrical engineering (C& G, NVQ, AM2 or equivalent)


Experience

Essential

  • oHave previous experience of line management oExperience managing complex technical issues within a sensitive environment oTo have experience in managing meetings, toll box talks or similar oTo have experience in dealing with contractors oAble to demonstrate the ability to set direction, inspire, coach, manage, motivate and develop a high performing team.


Desirable

  • oTo have experience in working within healthcare premises oTo have experience of working on CAD systems oTo have experience of MICAD


Knowledge

Essential

  • oTo have sound knowledge Electrical Services, BS7671. oIn depth knowledge of the HaSaWA and other relevant acts, standards and guidance notes oTo have a sound knowledge of single phase a three phase electrical distribution systems oTo have an understanding of permit to work systems


Desirable

  • oTo have a sound knowledge in HTM, and HBNs oTo have a sound knowledge of local generation (generators) oTo have a sound basic knowledge of High Voltage Systems oTo have a basic understanding of asset management (PPM and reactive tasks, SFG 20)

  • oTo have a full understanding of the importance for Method Statements and Risk Assessments oTo have an understanding of Architectural and Engineering technical drawings oTo have the ability to provide technical advice and knowledge to a predominantly an electrical workforce and support the wider multi-skilled workforce. oTo have the ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications o: oYou have knowledge & awareness of diversity and human rights as appropriate to your role oYou are able to communicate effectively to ensure high standards of care, treatment, service or support as appropriate to your role, oAble to provide a customer focussed service oStrong team and personal organisational and time management skills to manage competing priorities and deadlines, to act from individuals to large groups oTo be able to work effectively in a fast paced environment ensuring all paperwork, drawings and reports are correct.

  • oTo be qualified and certificated in IOSH Management oAbility to analyses complex problems and to develop and workable solutions to address them. oA strong, inspiring, engaging and collaborative leader. Able to demonstrate a variety of leadership styles oBe able to undertake light physical efforts, able to work at height and confined spaces
