We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse to join the band 6 team on the Cardiology / Cardiac Care unit. The Cardiac Care unit consists of 4 beds where level 2 care is provided for Cardiology patients and the ward is a 21 bedded cardiology ward. As band 6 on the Cardiac Care Unit/ Cardiology ward you will be responsible for providing leadership, cardiology expertise, advise and clinical ability.

A commitment to continuous professional development for both yourself and the team is essential, as this will ensure that our team has the required skills and knowledge to deliver safe and effective care.

You will be responsible for supporting your manager in ensuring that our service users needs are met through the delivery of high quality care. As a centre of excellence, you will offer a person-centred approach to their independence and well-being.

Main duties of the job

Manage the Coronary Care / Ward environment, and be responsible for ensuring co-ordination and delivery of skilled effective care and safe, timely discharge.

Assess, prioritise, plan, implement and evaluate individualised patient care. Supervise others in the aforementioned functions.

Ensure safe, timely discharge or transfer, of patient, to wards, other hospitals or care settings.

Perform and ensure others perform patient observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respirations, oxygen saturations, NEWS, pain score, pressure score and temperatures.

Provide follow up advice, treatment and care.

Perform procedures such as wound care, Catheterisations, venepuncture, and intra venous cannulation, temporary pacing, blood gas analysis.

Be responsible for the safe custody of medication, including checking and administration.
