Main duties of the job

MRI scanning of a caseload including Cardiac, abdominal, Gynae, neuro, MSK. Liaison with clinical teams and referrers. Supervision and training of less experienced and rotational staff. Involvement with research scanning. Involvement with administrative/managerial aspects of the department

Person Specification

Education/ qualifications

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) Radiography, DCR (D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent.
  • HCPC registration


Desirable

  • Post graduate study


Experience

Essential

  • Up -to-date knowledge of general imaging techniques.
  • Experience of working unsupervised.
  • Awareness of clinical governance issues in relation to patient care
  • Previous experience, at least, band 6 level.


Desirable

  • Experience of training staff and students
  • Previous experience at Band 7 level.
  • 4 years post -graduation experience


Skills/knowledge/ abilities

Essential

  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to teach and mentor students, more junior staff and new members of staff
  • Ability to cope with work pressures and manage time effectively
  • Keep all records up to date in a clear, accurate and concise manner on a day-to-day basis.


Desirable

  • IM injecting skills
  • IV injecting skills
  • Basic teaching, counselling and supervisory skills.
