We are seeking a kind, compassionate and ambitious registered nurse to grow and enhance their skills within our Ambulatory Care Unit. We believe in the importance of having the right person in the right job, therefore we would consider your application even if you do not have a Haematology and chemotherapy background, although it would be desirable, it wouldn't be essential as we would be willing to support and develop and individual who can demonstrate eagerness and willingness to learn and flourish.

As an experienced nurse you will be responsible for supporting your manager in ensuring that our service users' needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care. Sainsbury Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) is run by a small team of specialized nurses who assess, implement and deliver Haematological and non-haematological treatments including Systemic anti-cancer treatment therapy, blood product transfusions, drug infusions as well as perform various aseptic tasks for example venesections and assist with intrathecal chemotherapy. Patients attending ACU and undergoing treatment require ongoing practical and emotional support and reassurance and you will spend time listening and engaging in conversation to ensure patients and their loved ones are competent and confident in managing side effects and complications of treatment.

You will be involved with all aspects of planning, scheduling, treatment and aftercare and advice which requires organisation and coordination with our Consultants, Pharmacy, Admin team and the wider Multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

To provide high quality, effective, individualised care to all patients by assessing care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating care delivered.

To monitor and support staff to deliver individualised care to patients by assessing care needs, developing care plans, implementing & evaluating that care.

To assist the Ward/Department Manager in leading the nursing team and deputising in their absence

Monitor standards of nursing care and take appropriate action to maintain and improve them

To respond to patients, relatives and carers concerns as they arise and take remedial action as required

To assist the Senior Nurse and Ward Manager to ensure a positive patient experience during admission and in discharge

To oversee the band 5 submissions for clinical audit (synbiotix) and keep staff up to date with synbiotix results on a monthly basis.)

Essential

  • Registered Nurse on part 1 of the NMC Register
  • Experienced in administering Intravenous fluids and medications


Desirable

  • Has attained or is working towards a 1st Degree
  • Chemotherapy experience
