We are seeking an individual to Lead our Eastbourne District General Hospital Estates Team. You would be joining an established team at an incredibly exciting time in the hospitals evolution, with several multi-million pound projects completed or under way we are now embarking on the next chapter of our journey under the New Hospitals program.

This position plays a vital part in ensuring that patients are cared for in a safe, secure, and suitable environment, and that clinical and support colleagues have a suitable environment in which to work. That all statutory and legislative requirements placed on the Trust as an employer are met and compliance is demonstrable with suitable records available as support. To develop and maintain an evidence-based process to provide the trust board/commissioners the necessary assurance and to enable the prioritisation of both capital and revenue investment decisions.
Main duties of the job
Providing the strategic lead for the Team at Eastbourne, aligning all maintenance activities with the strategic objectives of ESHT and the Estates and Facilities Division. Create a department culture that ensures that all staff are aware of how their activities support the organisational aims. Provision of advice and guidance to other departments as necessary. Act as the advocate for Eastbourne protecting the integrity of the site and its assets by active participation and engagement with other departments.

The Estates Manager (Operations) will: -
- Be responsible for the development and efficient delivery of statutory compliant engineering services under their control at EDGH. This includes the management of specialist contractors.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Operational Maintenance department, taking the lead with the Head of Engineering in developing the strategy for the department in line with the Trust's overall strategy and transformation programmes. This will include playing a key role in identifying opportunities for innovation and modernisation, the delivery of all operational performance targets and Trust objectives, financial management, commercial development, and general management.

- Degree in an Engineering subject or relevant equivalent experience
- Evidence of specialist knowledge acquired through post-graduate courses and relevant experience
- Evidence of continued professional development to Masters level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience

- Membership of Professional body or bodies as applicable

- Minimum of 5 years extensive experience managing operational estates and maintenance services
- Proven track record of managing significant resources within agreed budgets.
- Proven track record of achievement of organisational/development objectives
- Experience of outsourcing contracted services and best value studies
- Experience of managing improvement works and developing maintenance programmes.
- Proven ability to manage change, service activity and development within a large, dynamic, and complex organisation.
- Experience of managing multi-disciplined teams and contractors, applying relevant service level agreements, and supporting Key Performance Indicators.
- Proven track record of achievement of organisational / development objectives.
Desirable
- Experience of managing a Facilities service.
- Experience of managing operational maintenance within the NHS
- Detailed understanding and experience of the operation of acute & community healthcare services.
- Capital development from inception through evaluation in use.
- Business management at a site level.
