Higher Apprenticeship - Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice (Adult/Children Pathway)

Attention all Assistant Practitioners/Nursing Associates: Are you ready to progress and develop?

We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity for current Assistant Practitioners/ Nursing Associates to develop their skills and train to be a Registered Nurse with the Open University.

Applications are invited from Assistant Practitioners/Nursing Associates with a foundation degree gained within the last 5 years.

Applicants MUST possess GCSE Maths and English Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent functional skills level 2 and the certificates to evidence this along with the Care Certificate.You will be required to provide these prior to interview.

Main duties of the job

Undertake and achieve the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship with the Open University. You will be required to undertake 1 day a week as study and attend placements in different areas around the Trust in order to meet the NMC placement hours.

PLEASE specify EITHER Child OR Adult nursing in your supporting information as the interview panel is branch specific.

Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: �18 + Administration cost of �3.85 = �21.85. Deducted at �6.85 from 1st month salary and �5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: �38 + administration cost of �3.90 = �41.90. Deducted at �11.90 from 1st month salary and �10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Person Specification



  • Foundation Degree in Healthcare within the last 5 years
  • GCSE Maths & English at Grade C/4 or above or Functional Skills Level 2 or Equivalent
  • Care Certificate
  • Undertake and achieve the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship
