This is an exciting opportunity to join the well established Advance Practice CT Superintendent team in one of the largest CT departments in the North West.

The opportunity for an experienced CT Radiographer, ideally with post graduate qualifications and management experience, to further develop their leadership and management skills, alongside CT Brain reporting Advanced Practice in a fast paced, dynamic department.

A trainee CT Brain reporting position will be supported, if required in the appointed candidate.

Main duties of the job

You will support and deputise for the Principal CT Radiographer in delivering an efficient and comprehensive CT service to meet local and national performance target and objectives.

The post holder will ideally hold a post-graduate qualification in Advanced Practice CT Brain Reporting. If it is not yet achieved, the post-holder must be open to obtaining this qualification in order to contribute to the robust CT brain reporting service at Stockport, as part of the nationally recognised Hyper Acute Stroke Service.

The post holder must undertake all radiographic duties, including venous and rectal cannulation, with supervisory responsibilities as appropriate.

To work as a senior member of the Radiology team, attending management meetings, demonstrating exemplary clinical skills and professional conduct, and exhibiting leadership and calm organisational qualities.

Job responsibilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • To assist the Principal CT Radiographer in delivering the CT Service working to agreed protocols.
  • To assist in deputising for the Principal CT Radiographer in their absence.
  • To undertake all radiographic duties within the department with supervisory responsibilities as appropriate.
  • To be responsible for the care and comfort of the patient whilst in the department and throughout their examination.
  • Responsible for the day to day clinical management of the CT department.
  • Qualified to provide an independent CT Head reporting service to referring clinicians.
  • To supervise and organise Radiology staff working in the CT department.
  • To work as a senior member of the Radiology team in order to support the Principal CT Radiographer and Radiology Directorate Manager on operational and strategic issues.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of �41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of �13.

Person Specification



  • DCR or BSc (Hons) Diagnostice Radiography and HCPC registration
  • Post Graduate Certificate in CT or CT Brain reporting



  • Extensive CT knowledge and experience
  • Substantial NHS experience


  • Management of staff
  • Management of service, resources and workload

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Team working and leadership qualities working in pressurised environment
