We are proud of our Maternity Service at Whipps Cross hospital. We are a supportive and friendly team dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care to our service users. We serve a diverse community in East London.

We are looking for an enthusiastic motivated midwife who has a passion foe woman centred care and who can provide on a daily basis effective management of flow through the maternity unit resulting in high standards of midwifery care, reduction in length of stay and will be responsive to individualised needs and increasing client satisfaction

Main duties of the job

Provide leadership to midwifery and non-midwifery staff, ensuring effective management of the daily activity and through put within the maternity unit. This will result in high standards of midwifery care, reduction in length of stay and will be responsive to individualised needs, thus increasing client satisfaction.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Midwife
  • Educated to degree level
  • Practice supervisor/Assessor


Desirable

  • Masters qualification or relevant masters level of experience in specilist areas


Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Has relevant post registration experience.
  • Experience of working as a senior band 6 midwife role
  • Practice development or management of projects or initiatives
  • Experience in people management and improving the patient experience
  • Experience of change management/implementation of practice change
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering and co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments


Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work across professional boundaries
  • Evidence of ability to motivate and develop multi-professional teams
  • Experience of identifying and interpreting national policy
  • Advanced IT skills. Ability to demonstrate the required expertise associated with a senior midwife role
  • Good team worker ability, autonomous practitioner
  • Proven oral and written Communication skills
  • Understanding of current NHS issues and initiatives


Desirable

  • Proven teaching and assessing skills. Research to practice
