Main duties of the job

Functional Responsibilities for the Professional Midwifery Advocate Role

The post holder must be available to deploy the A-EQUIP model as required by the Trust.

The post holder will ensure that midwives are invited to meet with the PMA a minimum of once per year.

(Based on the Proposed competency framework for the A-Equip Model and theProfessional Midwifery Advocate NHS England Task Force: Education work stream,September 2016).

We are open to recruiting a fixed term / Secondment for a 12 month period.

Person Specification

Knowledge, Training & Experience


  • Registered midwife.
  • Demonstrable experience of broad knowledge of midwifery practice and supervision of midwives.
  • Is willing to undertake the PMA Bridging programme.
  • Educated to BSc level or equivalent
  • Has been appointed as a Professional Midwifery advocate
  • Is a qualified sign off mentor
