Our Band 5 Dietitians have the opportunity to work in acute, intermediate care and outpatient settings, benefitting from supporting patients through their journey as an integrated acute and community Trust.

Main duties of the job

As a band 5 Dietitian within ESHT you will be supported in clinical rotations across the acute and community settings working with. Duties include providing specialist advice to Stroke, Frailty, Surgery, Gastroenterology and Orthopaedics inpatients in the acute hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals and outpatient clinics. You will liaise closely with the patient's relatives and carers regarding ongoing nutritional care and discharge planning. You will also provide expert nutritional advice and knowledge to the wider MDT.In community settings you will support patients in face to face clinics, via virtual/Tele clinics, as well as in their home and in care-home settings, to manage their oral and artificial nutritional requirements.

Our close knit and supportive team of over 40 clinicians (which includes Dietitians, Trainee Advanced Practice Dietitians, First contact practice Dietitians working in Primary care, Dietetic Assistants and Dietetic Apprentices) and associated staff support the specialities of paediatrics, oncology, diabetes, intensive care, community nutrition support, inpatients, acute rehabilitation, general outpatients and gastroenterology.

Qualifications

Essential

• A BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics/ or equivalent
• Health Professions Council Registered

Experience

Essential

• Previous experience of undertaking new patient assessment and treatment
• Experience of conducting patient and other health professional group education
• Experience of undertaking computer aided dietary assessment

Desirable

• Experience working in an Acute/Community Environment

Skills

Essential

• Sound clinical knowledge based on current best practice and research relating to nutrition and dietetics
• Knowledge of prescribable oral nutritional supplements, enteral feeds and other dietetic products
• Knowledge of medications and drug nutrient interactions
• The ability to communicate information accurately, effectively and sensitively, both verbal and written
• Good IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office

Desirable

• Good understanding of relevant NICE guidelines NHS policy local health strategies
• Experience working within an MDT
• Excellent verbal and written communication and active listening skills
