Graduate/ band 5 dietitian
We can offer experiences in both general and specialist dietetic areas in a friendly and supportive environment. As a department of 25 dietitians across two general hospital sites, we can offer shadowing and learning practical skills in general and specialist areas at band 5 level. Our experienced team contributes to national dietetic specialist groups, publishes articles and presents at the BDA research symposium/ clinical conferences.
This post will offer graduates, or established band 5 dietitians, opportunities to work and develop their skills in fraility, trauma and orthopaedics, oncology, stroke, gastroenterology, ITU, nutrition team, paediatrics and renal. You will be based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital and this will give you the opportunity to become part of the team within that particular hospital.
We actively encourage audit and service development, and offer mentoring programmes, CPD, and regular team meetings. You will be involved in student training as we will be offering University of Worcester A, B, C student placements. Band 5s also undertake various talks to patient groups and clinical staff. General outpatient clinics are available if you would like to combine both inpatient and outpatient work.
Main duties of the job
Job Purpose:
To manage a caseload of patients offering evidence-based dietetic advice and/or patient centred principles within designated ward areas and in out-patient clinics.
To provide dietetic intervention to patients on a wide range of therapeutic diets in a timely way by working as a member of the dietetic team and other health care professionals.
To take responsibility for prioritising and managing workload, seeking guidance from senior staff whenever required.
To train and update healthcare professionals on nutrition related topics.
To contribute to the Therapy Clinical Governance agenda to further improve the quality of the service.
