This full time permanent position is within a fast paced team working on complex projects and tenders, delivering category plans and savings. It is an exciting opportunity for a highly literate and public procurement-competent individual to support the delivery of a significant programme of change within the Clinical category, aligned to areas such as Theatres, Orthopaedics and Anaesthetics.

You will relish the opportunity to assist in the delivery of Frimley Health's strategic category management programme, be responsible for the delivery of a specific strategic sourcing programme with an ambitious cost improvement programme covering all Frimley Health sites.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for managing medium to large procurement projects whether run locally or in collaboration with NHS Supply Chain, in conjunction with our clinical department. You will work to identify and manage procurements that deliver savings whilst ensuring a high level of patient care. You'll also use your up-to-date knowledge to provide day to day information and advice on procurement processes, protocols and policy to key end users within the Trust as well as providing an invaluable contribution to the project team meetings on an on-going basis.

  • Develop, manage and report on an agreed work and savings plans

  • Act as the subject matter expert within category, leading by example

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development in last 12 months (applicable to role)
  • CIPS level 4 or level 5 Diploma


Desirable

  • Member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)
  • Accredited Line Management Qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in a clinical category management role
  • Experience of public sector regulations
  • Experience of running a tender process
  • Experience of running product trials
  • Experience of managing supplier performance
  • Experience in people management - appraisals, managing sickness


Desirable

  • Experience of working with the NHS Terms and Conditions of Supply
  • Experience of chairing stakeholder meetings
  • Evidence of stakeholder management


Skills/Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of relevant category products, services and markets
  • Knowledge of Social Value and Sustainability
  • Knowledge of contract management
