Would you like to work in a fast-paced environment providing specialist care to paediatric patients?Are you looking to transfer your skills and develop in a paediatric setting?We are looking for passionate and dedicated Registered Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners, Band 5, to join our welcoming and friendly Interventional Radiology team.

No paediatric experience? No problem!

We have a robust in-house package of support and education to ensure continual upskilling and confidence regardless of previous experience. Working in the Operations and Images Department, you will be encouraged to become multi-skilled and work within the various specialities including advanced clinical roles, leadership, and education. We have a dedicated education team that support and guide all staff to ensure you can reach your full potential.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide the highest standard of nursing care for the children, young people and their families at all times
  • To plan, assess, implement and evaluate programmes of care for individual children and to supervise other staff in this activity.
  • To ensure an ongoing welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the children, young people and their families
  • To supervise and support members of the ward/theatre team as required, ensuring that all patients receive appropriate care.
  • To ensure that treatments prescribed by the medical staff are carried out, and that multidisciplinary team members are informed of changes in the patient's condition.
  • To ensure quality care is given, by being familiar with agreed ward/theatre and Trust standards of care and to inform senior nursing/ODP staff, if the required standard cannot be reached.
  • To actively assist in the education and practical training of learners and junior staff at every opportunity. To work in co-operation with their university in order to provide uniformity and promotion of professional standards
  • To maintain confidentiality surrounding the child's or young person's admission and treatment at all times

  • NMC Registered Nurse or HCPC registered ODP (appropriate to clinical speciality)
  • Relevant nursing/ODP qualification
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development linked to demonstrable competencies


Desirable

  • Assessor or practice supervisor qualification/experience


Experience/Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of having worked with acute/chronically sick children or specialised transferable skills
  • Understanding of professional and current issues in children's nursing
  • Understanding of the importance of research and evidence-based practice
  • Basic knowledge of computer skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding issues according to Trust policies and procedures
  • Understating or evidence of fulfilling requirements for Revalidation
  • Understanding of principles of clinical governance (e.g. risk management, audit, quality)
