Job Details

We are looking for two highly motivated people who would like to join our exciting team at Imperial College Healthcare Private Care as Band 5 Arabic Advocates.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their skills further, and gain invaluable experience whilst working within a large MDT to support the delivery of excellent patient care including for international patients.

The post holder will report to the International Business Development Manager, and will lead on providing Arabic interpreting and advocacy support to patients and their families as well as the Clinical team to work together to deliver patient centred care.

The postholder will work closely with the various embassies and third parties who may sponsor the patient's treatment, coordinating all administrative and financial requirements relating to these patients.

The successful candidate is required to be able demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. This is an exciting and varied role that will provide a great learning experience for someone who wishes to further develop their customer service skills in a diverse environment.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent training and/or experience.


Desirable

  • Qualification in Public Services Interpreting.
  • AMSPAR certificate in Medical Terminology


Experience

Essential

  • Significant previous experience as an interpreter within a medical / hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (to AMSPAR level or equivalent) and to be able to translate speedily and accurately.
  • Experience of working in an environment providing direct customer service.
  • General office / administrative experience.


Desirable

  • Knowledge of Consent to Treatment, Patient Confidentiality, Data protection and the law


Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential

  • Computer literate and competent in MS Word and Microsoft Outlook
  • Working knowledge of PC applications for written translation using universal keyboard.
  • The ability to work with a high degree of flexibility, including working hours
  • Dealing professionally, promptly, and sensitively with escalated problems, issues, and complaints
  • Lead by example
