Registered Nurse Inpatient Ward - Henry Tudor Ward - St Marks Hospital, Maidenhead

The successful candidate will join our experienced multidisciplinary team of skilled and highly motivated staff in our 24-bedded inpatient community ward. We deliver quality services for patients requiring generic rehabilitation for older persons, deliver frailty, subacute and discharge to assess pathways. This opportunity will allow you to experience a holistic view of community services and gain knowledge of the full range of health and social services available for patients, both within hospital environment and other services in the community that can help the patient stay in their preferred discharge destinations safely.

Main duties of the job

  • To promote and maintain a high standard of individualised care by actively contributing to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of care, ensuring that care plans are used effectively, adhered to, and updated as the patient's condition dictates.
  • To maintain a safe, welcoming environment for patients, relatives, visitors, and staff.
  • To demonstrate clinical decision-making skills, displaying evidence-based practice
  • To deliver patient care using a variety of clinical skills in line with competency framework.
  • To be actively involved in promoting self-care for patients and building health promotion into care as appropriate.

The must haves for this role:

Registered Nurse /Adult Nurse Trained with up to date NMC registration

To work bank holidays/weekends or unsocial hours to meet the needs of the service.

Reasonable level of fitness required.

Person Specification



  • RN 998/Slice Recognised education in Care Older People

Previous Experience


  • Experience of working in adult healthcare
  • Evidence of ongoing professional developmen

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Good Organisational skills

Previous Experience


  • Minimum of 2 yrs. post registration
  • Previous experience in Intermediate care and/or rehabilitation nursing

  • Effective communication skills including negotiation, empathy and reassurance
  • Presents complex, sensitive contentious information to team members, patients/carers and other professionals
  • Positive attitude to change and flexible work practice
  • Ability to identify and develop evidence-based practice within a clinical area
