We are looking for a a dynamic, motivated and experienced Physiotherapist with accomplished clinical skills to both support the leadership of the Short Stay/Opal therapy team at Good Hope Hospital. Coupled with enhancing the training and development of qualified and non-qualified therapy staff. IS THIS YOU?

* Do you have the skills and ability to work collaboratively with Therapy team leads as part of a cohesive wider team striving towards a common patient rehabilitation goal across the acute pathway.

The successful candidate will work jointly with the team lead, to undertake the daily leadership of the team. You will combine the management of a clinical caseload coupled with Clinical education leadership. This will take place on 2 protected days to support Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and therapy support workers across the team.

The successful candidate will be a role model to the team, demonstrating their experience whilst providing individualised development support.

Main duties of the job

The candidate must be a qualified HCPC registered physiotherapist with recent acute experience at a senior level.

Demonstration of significant clinical experience with good knowledge in the clinical area, enabling the candidate to manage a complex caseload of patients as well as significant experience in managing and leading others.

The candidate must have a good understanding and experience of both formal and informal training techniques, with the enthusiasm to empower others with their development. The post holder will have an understanding of all the different job roles and their scope of practise to provide tailored development for qualified OT's, PT's and TSW's.

They must have experience of participating in service development and a practical knowledge of audit and data collection. They will also have experience of managing junior staff and deputising for the team lead.

Excellent communication skills will be essential to support the team, with the ability to plan and manage staff rotas, sickness and deputise for the Clinical Team Leader in meetings when required.

Required to participate in the seven day working programmes across the organisation as well as the physiotherapy led on-call respiratory rota.

Person Specification



  • *Good standard of general education including English language and mathematics, A levels or equivalent
  • *Degree in Physiotherapy
  • * Registered with HCPC
  • * Evidence of relevant postgraduate training in specialist area, or equivalent
  • * Leadership training


  • *Postgraduate advanced accredited training within specialist area



  • *Relevant postgraduate experience in specialist areas relevant to the post
  • * * Experience of effective staff management and leadership
  • * * Experience of management of adults within the area of practice
  • ** Experience of students at clinical tutor and supervisor levels
  • * * Experience of leading audit
  • * * Experience of training staff groups at all levels
  • * * Evidence of working effectively in partnership with others within multi- disciplinary teams and across agencies


  • ** Experience of conducting or being involved in audit, implementing outcome measures and/or research in the specialist area
