The successful applicant's will be Higher Assistant Psychologist's (HAP) and will join the multi-disciplinary York Access to Mental Wellbeing Team. They will be involved in delivering high quality brief interventions for a range of common mental health conditions. The clinician will provide up to 6 sessions of focused intervention in both a 1:1 and group setting. The successful candidate will work as part of the Multidisciplinary Team, and will also be required to liaise with internal and external stakeholders including Crisis Team, Community Mental Health Teams, GP's and specialist services.

There is a strong focus on professional development and the service offers training to support the delivery of evidence-based interventions. The successful candidate will contribute to service development including being involved in the ongoing review and development of the Brief Intervention pathways.

There is a supportive team culture and the team shares knowledge and skills to ensure we provide a high quality service offer.

Applicants need to be motivated, enthusiastic, flexible and resilient. Knowledge and experience of working with people with complex mental health issues is essential.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in psychology
  • Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
  • Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)


Desirable

  • Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice, youth work, work with offenders and/or research design and analysis


Experience

Essential

  • Experience working as a psychology assistant
  • Experience working with people with mental ill health or learning disabilities.
  • Experience of working with patients who present with high levels of risk.


Knowledge

Essential

  • An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental ill health or learning disabilities


Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work collaboratively with members of the MDT to provide an effective service.
  • Ability to utilise skills to support patients in distress
