The Role
As the sole Health Visitor of the Falkland Islands you will be expected to support children 0-5 years and their families with the aim of giving them the best start in life. This includes identifying health or developmental needs as early as possible, promoting health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities.
Manage and be responsible for a designated caseload of approximately 300 families island-wide, including Stanley, Mount Pleasant, East and West Falklands and outlying islands. The role also involves the promotion of health in schools and the wider community.
The post-holder will be a Child Protection Link Officer for Health Services.
The successful applicant will work closely with the School Nurse as part of the 0-19 service along with other areas of the health service to provide a holistic service.
The Person
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and resilient specialist nurse, with a minimum of two years post-registration experience as a Health Visitor and five years relevant experience in UK health service or similar.
The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships within a multi-disciplinary team (including Health, Social and Education Services)
Core Requirements
- A registered nurse who has a Post graduate qualification enabling registration as a Health Visitor (RHV).
- A minimum of two years recent full-time Health Visitor experience in a UK environment (or equivalent)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships within a multi-disciplinary team (including Health, Social and Education Services)
- Experience of Electronic Patient Records Systems and competent Microsoft Office skills.
The Package
- Fixed Term Contract, up to 4 years.
- Starting Salary £33,435 to £38,548 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) rising to £44,234
- Eligibility for a 25% Gratuity (taxable).
- 41 days paid leave, 30 days paid annual leave plus 11 government and public holidays.
