An exciting opportunity has arisen for an 8a clinical psychologist to join the Learning Disability team within Stockport CAMHS. We provide a mental health service to children with moderate to severe learning disabilities and their families up to the age of 18. We are a small multidisciplinary team which currently includes a clinical lead/principal clinical psychologist, mental health practitioner and psychiatrist. We are based within the wider CAMHS team and work closely with nursing colleagues in the Children's Community Learning Disability team.

The Stockport CAMHS team are a welcoming team who value clinical psychology. We have a strong well-being ethos with well-being leads, and a supportive, compassionate culture.

Although this is an 8a post, we actively welcome newly qualified psychologists or clinical psychology trainees qualifying in 2024 to apply at Band 7 and enter onto our preceptorship programme. This will support your development as a psychologist with clear aims and formal sign off by the care hub lead for psychological therapies. We are committed to the development of our staff and this process supports clinicians to progress in their careers.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will use a range of assessment and intervention skills to work with the psychological needs of this client group. There will be opportunity to offer psychological consultation in a range of settings. There are also opportunities to contribute to training, and to the development of the service. You will be supported in clinical development by in house training programmes and access to additional training, in addition to receiving supervision from the principal clinical psychologist who works in the team.
