An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administration Apprentice within the Clinical Audit Department and The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

Our Clinical Audit Administration apprenticeship offers you the chance to earn a salary. gain valuable experience and new skills, whilst being supported to achieve an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration. On successful completion of the 18 month apprenticeship and the NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration, the post holder will be offered a full time Band 2 Clinical Audit Clerk position.

Whilst we would like an immediate start, we are happy to wait for the successful applicant to complete their May/June examinations.

The base for this post is The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but the post holder may be required to work at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, and to obtain notes from our offsite notes facility in Atcham, so being able to drive with access to a car insured for work purposes is desirable but not essential.

Main duties of the job

The main purpose of the role is to provide clerical support for the Clinical Audit Team. Including:
  • Basic administrative tasks such as taking telephone messages, typing, photocopying, scanning and filing.
  • Collecting medical records and updating locations on the computer.
  • Assisting with Clinical Audit projects, including data collection, input and basic data analysis.
  • Assisting with collection of patient feedback, including collecting and scanning Friends and Family cards and collating and sending out patient survey packs.
  • Using a template send emails to clinical staff requesting updates on clinical and NICE guidance.

The post holder will receive full training in the duties of the post, including the hospital computer system, Teleform scanning software and all relevant office equipment. The post holder will carry out their work under supervision with support provided.

Induction Training will be given in the Department with guidance, training and supervision as necessary to develop the skills and knowledge needed to undertake the role. During the apprenticeship, support and guidance will also be provided to achieve the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship.

We have two small friendly teams, one based at either hospital site (Shrewsbury and Telford). Our work is very varied, and involves interaction with all areas of the hospital. Experience gained working within our teams gives individuals a good level of training in hospital systems and processes. Whilst many team members have remained with us for many years, more ambitious members of the team have gone onto successful careers in operational management, nursing and dentistry.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs or equivalent A* - C (9 - 4) (including Maths and English Language or equivalent).
