An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Psychologist to join our Community Paediatric team. This post will involve working within our Community Paediatric MDT, providing comprehensive assessments of children with possible Autism Spectrum Disorders.

There will also be scope to develop some initial psychological intervention pathways within the Community Paediatric service for children and young people with neurodevelopmental and complex neurological disorders. We welcome applications from newly qualified clinicians and current band 7's with a strong interest in working with this client group who are looking to progress to an 8a role.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist who can work autonomously and as part of a team to provide high quality assessments for possible Autism Spectrum Disorders. This will involve working within an assessment protocol for children being seen by the Community Paediatric multidisciplinary team, acting as the case co-ordinator as and when required and contributing to the assessment of complex diagnostic cases. The role will involve working with individuals as well as families, and external agencies such as schools, mental health services and social care. We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist with excellent communication skills who can work sensitively and thoughtfully with children, young people and their families.

The successful candidate will join a small Paediatric Clinical Psychology team which offers good opportunities for professional support and development. We regularly have trainees on placement with us from local ClinPsyD programmes. We are always looking at how we can improve services and clinical outcomes for our patients. We are keen for all members of the Clinical Psychology team to contribute to service development, innovation and improvement.
