Main duties of the job

Could you use your skills and experience to support the NHS to deliver great patient care?

Additional Working Pattern:

Wednesday and Friday 7.5 hours per day

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma in Dental Therapy
  • GDC Registered Dental Therapist with post qualification in extended skills to allow the administration of inferior dental blocks
  • Evidence of continuing professional development


Desirable

  • Dental Sedation Qualification


Experience

Essential

  • A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience delivering high quality clinical standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - ability to use tact, diplomacy and empathy
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Good organisational skills & ability to prioritise
  • Proven ability to work within a team and to work under own initiative.
  • Computer literate


Desirable

  • Experience working in a community dental service setting
  • Experience of treating patients under sedation
  • Experience of using the SOEL Health dental application or similar dental application


Knowledge

Essential

  • In depth understanding of Oral Health
  • Knowledge of Delivering Better Oral Health, The Toolkit, 3rd edition, to enable giving advice and application of evidence informed actions as part of consistent messages provided by the dental team
  • Understanding of dental legislation and its application
  • Thorough understanding of the importance of meeting CQC outcomes
  • Maintain clinical registration and CPD to develop own capabilities and create culture of shared learning


Skills

Essential

  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to motivate and drive through quality and performance improvements
  • Excellent time management
  • Ability to empathize and to be attuned to the needs and feelings of others, whether directly or indirectly expressed.
  • Excellent clinical skills to cope with the demands of clinical dentistry
  • IT skills to record the clinical procedures performed


Desirable

  • (Able to demonstrate post certification training) in varying the detail but not the direction of a prescription
  • (Able to demonstrate post certification training) in prescribing radiographs
