Base Location: Christchurch Hospital

Main duties of the job

Role Overview: As a Band 6 Hand Therapist, you will work closely with patients referred from orthopaedics, primary and secondary care, as well as self-referrals. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing expert assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for hand and upper limb conditions.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
    • Contributing to the development of evidence-based practice.
    • Participating in in-house training and development programs.

    Requirements:To thrive in this role, you'll need:
    • A minimum oftwo years' experienceworking at Band 5 level.
    • Willingness to participate in7-day working on a rota basis.
    • Ability to drive, hold a clean driver's license, and have access to a car for work purposes.

Person Specification



  • HCPC Registration


  • Member of BAHT
  • Evidence of BAHT or other relevant courses



  • Hand therapy experience
  • Worked as an outpatient therapist in the NHS or in a system comparable to the NHS


  • Experience with custom made thermoplastic and neoprene splinting techniques
  • Experience of working in hand therapy outpatients at Band 6 level



  • Ability to teach & supervise Junior staff & assistants


  • Independent manufacture of variety of bespoke static and dynamic splints
