Eastbourne District General Hospital has a busy thriving Endoscopy unit. We have a new state of the art JAG accredited purpose built department which provides Endoscopy procedures to inpatient and outpatients under taking both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. We work closely with our clinicians to provide a patient focused service.

This exciting opportunity has risen for highly motivated and enthusiastic registered nurses to join our innovative team. Our evolving department offers a superb Endoscopy specific training programme. The successful applicant will have a six week supernumerary/induction plan. We are committed to providing staff with learning and development opportunities to support their career progression.

Main duties of the job

To participate within the multi-disciplinary team in delivering appropriate safe patient care in a timely fashion working towards the role of Team Leader providing clinical expertise ensuring the delivery of appropriate safe patient care.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Evidence of diploma level / degree level study
  • Registered General Nurse on the NMC register
  • Evidence of continual professional development


Desirable

  • ECDL Qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Generic pre-registration experience in a care environment
  • An understanding of the NHS
  • Ability to undertake further training and development
  • Knowledge of quality, audit and research
  • Ability to manage a clinical case load
  • Demonstrate an up-to-date skills inventory to include Basic Life Support, drug calculation and use of infusion equipment


Desirable

  • Previous experience of chosen speciality
  • Previous experience of working in a hospital setting
  • Good IT skills


Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to carry out a full range of nursing practice
  • Good communication skills - both verbal and non-verbal
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own and others workload
  • Basic Life Support
  • Competent in drug calculation and use of infusion equipment
  • Basic IT skills - knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to support and teach junior staff

  • Additional skills & knowledge appropriate to specialty
