We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Band 6 Allergy Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Allergy service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The post holder will be based at St Mary's Hospital, the longest established Allergy clinic in the UK. This is a fully comprehensive, nationally commissioned Allergy service.
Working within our multidisciplinary team the post holder will be expected to support allergy outpatient clinics, support the food and drug allergy day case services and work alongside the medical and nursing team to deliver our immunotherapy service. This post will work closely with senior allergy nurses specialist and Allergy consultants within service, and will be supported to achieve the BSACI allergy nursing competencies.
Awareness of the current issues in allergy management is essential in order to provide high quality specialist nursing assessment, evidence-based intervention and self-management support for our patients. Teaching experience is also highly desirable as is the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Main duties of the job
- Provide safe, high quality, individualised, evidence based nursing care with the support and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. This includes dealing with complex situations, taking appropriate action in an emergency and unforeseen situations.
- Develop the specialist clinical skills and knowledge to achieve the competences required in order to carry out all relevant duties without direct supervision.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist allergy nursing care and advice to support patients, their families and carers managing their health conditions.
- In partnership with the Allergy consultants , the allergy nursing team and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of nursing care and staff development.
