Maintain high standards of care in the management of chronic pain patients in an outpatient setting

Work alongside a multidisciplinary team

Assist the Chronic Pain Consultants with the running of the dedicated chronic pain treatment lists and perform general duties associated within a theatre environment

Main duties of the job

  • At all times to work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional conduct/HCPC standards of conduct
  • To maintain at all times the highest standard of care for patients. To ensure that all members of the team receive adequate support and are conversant with trust policies in use. To ensure that new and revised policies are implemented.
  • To communicate effectively with patients` carers and visitors, ensuring that assistance is given at all times. To promote good public relations, and maintain effective communication with other departments and health care partners.
  • Maintain an efficient reporting system to enable effective communication between all members of the care team.
  • Ensure that all users and staff come to no harm, that all adverse events are reported and acted upon in accordance with the Trust reporting system.
  • Conform to the Trust Drug and Medications Policy, ensuring correct recording of stocks and administration.
  • Perform procedures and treatments in accordance with Trust policies.
  • Comply with the Trust policy regarding the scope of practice.
  • Be aware of and comply with the Trust complaint policy.
  • Be involved in clinical Governance issues and development
  • Contribute towards effective and efficient team work to achieve combined goals

  • Experience of working in sterile surgical procedures
  • Evidence of ward/department management under supervision
  • Able to work autonomously
  • Evidence of inter-professional working


Desirable

  • 2 years recent operating department experience.
  • Experience in working with Chronic Pain Patients.
  • Evidence of research based practice.


Qualifications/training

Essential

  • RGN with current registration OR Registered Operating Department Practitioner
  • Up-to-date knowledge of professional issues
  • Mentorship qualification


Desirable

  • Evidence of relevant specialised qualifications.
  • Demonstrate professional post-registration development.


Interpersonal skills

Essential

  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills with multi-disciplinary team/client/relatives.
