Our Critical Care Unit is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic band 5 nurse with excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for critical care. We would highly recommend a visit to the unit so you can see the unit and understand the role.

We work cross site. The unit at RHCH is a 9 bedded facility with approximately 40 health care staff, BNHH is a 18 bedded unit with approximately 90 health care staff. Your primary base would be BNHH. We are a friendly and supportive team, we admit both medical and surgical admissions from the Emergency Department and the wards. We have an outreach service and this team works alongside the critical care team to ensure best care for our patients. We also run an established Advanced Critical Care Practitioner program.

All new staff to critical care will attend the critical care foundation program (CCFP) which is mandatory - this includes simulation and on line theory modules. After successful completion of CCFP there is an opportunity to complete a university based critical care course which is run by Oxford Brookes University. We also provide lots of other bespoke training and development.

Staff are required to work on both sites, BNHH and RHCH. Transport is provided by the shuttle bus.

Main duties of the job

To deliver high quality, effective and compassionate individualised health care to all critically ill patients and their families. You will work as part of a team supporting and developing colleagues whilst contributing to the efficient and effective operation of the department.

The post holder is required to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. You will be required to work cross site, transport is provided. You are also required to work some bank holidays, weekends and night duties.
