An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Permanent Ward Manager position on the Surgical and Urology Ward also incorporating the Urology Out Patient Clinic.

You will be responsible for ensuring that our service user`s needs are met through the delivery of high quality care.

You will be leading an established team and have overall day to day responsibility of the efficient and effective management of operational and professional issues to ensure high quality clinical care and patient experience within the Surgical Division.

The post requires staff with focus, enthusiasm, drive and commitment and an ability to work closely with the MDT within Surgery The post provides an excellent career progression for aspiring senior nurses who are looking to develop their leadership and management skills and professional portfolio.

You must have sufficient post registration experience and a surgical or Urology background is desirable.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate must have a proven ability in supervising, managing and controlling the activities of the inpatient area and outpatient unit in an effective and efficient manner.

You will be a clinical role model and have a willingness to contribute to the development of the team as well as your own professional growth.

You will have excellent communication skills and provide high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike.

You will be responsible for delivering Quality Assurance, day to day management of the Elective and Emergency pathway incorporating effective admission and discharge planning and staffing management

You will be leading an established team and have overall day to day responsibility of the efficient and effective management of operational and professional issues to ensure high quality clinical care and patient experience within the Surgical division. You will work closely with the Matron to provide a quality and well led service incorporating audits, Governance and patient experience feedback

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understands the concepts of clinical governance and shared governance including evidence based practice and critical appraisal of research findings.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of effective risk management.
  • Knowledge of current NHS issues including performance targets and the wider modernisation agenda.
  • Knowledge of national nursing agenda and application to role.
  • NMC Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Use own initiative and meet deadlines.


Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse / Practitioner. 1st level with current NMC
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Evidence of on-going professional development in a recognised and appropriate nursing field of practice
  • Professional and clinical competence


Desirable

  • Recognised leadership development training.
  • Recognised management development
  • Appropriate clinical speciality qualification
