An EXCITING opportunity has arisen for exceptional and experienced skilled midwives to work on Lilac Birth Centre at Whipps Cross University Hospital.
Would you like to provide midwifery led care in a newly renovated, state of the art birth centre in a CQC 2019 rated GOOD maternity unit ?
Would you like to use and develop your skills with a holistic approach using hydrotherapy, active birth, and complimentary therapies?
Are you passionate about providing person centred personalised care?
Would you like to work in a Birth Centre in the up and coming heart of East London with excellent local transport links and amenities?
We are proud to offer an amazing opportunity for midwives to practice in our Lilac Birth Centre complete with 5 spacious pool rooms with oxytocin boosting mood lighting and comfortable active birth equipment to support our families in their chosen setting for birth.
We are pleased to work collaboratively with our obstetric team and consultant midwives to provide personalised care plans and facilitate meaningful care with people choosing to birth with safety and a positive experience as priority, and have developed a highly skilled, well supported, diverse team of midwives to lead the care on Lilac Birth centre. We are proud that our diverse workforce supports our diverse community in East London.
Main duties of the job
We provide maternity care to around 4200 women a year and we have just completed a �6.8m project, funded by Barts Charity to renovate Women's and Maternity services to vastly improve the experience of our expectant mothers and their families. In addition to this we are working closely with our redevelopment colleagues on the case for a new Whipps Cross Hospital, which will host a state of the art Maternity Unit.

Communication is a fundamental process to ensure continuity and high standards of care. It includes sharing ideas, information and feedback in order to empower patients and members of the interdisciplinary team.
Skilled in communicating with a range of people on a daily basis some of who may have communication barriers.
Participates in team meetings so fair and equal opportunities are given to share knowledge and ideas with colleagues.
Engages in the mentorship/Preceptorship programme either as a Preceptor or a Preceptee.
The post holder is required to familiarise him/herself with and comply with the Trusts policies and procedures
The post holder must be aware of individual responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act and identify and report as necessary any untoward accident, incident or potentially hazardous environment
The post holder must at all times carry out duties and responsibilities with regard to the Trusts Equal Opportunity policy
Identifies and takes action when own or others behaviour undermines equality and diversity
Plan, develop and implements health promotion activities in accordance to local/national guidance to meet individual patient needs. Evaluate patient care and make change as necessary
Give appropriate advice/counselling to women and their partners regarding all aspects of care eg smoking cessation advice, breast feeding, screening etc
Give total midwifery care in acute and primary health care setting. This will involve a flexible rota which will include 24hrs cover
Analyse and report information provided through appropriate clinical equipment and act upon this gathered information (e.g. blood pressure monitoring)
